Alice Hickson Freediver

I recently had the opportunity to film Alice, an incredible national record freediver.

Alice explains why she loves freediving and what it means to her. Once she’s underwater, everything changes. The noise of the world disappears, and she moves with this quiet ease. Through the camera, it almost looked like she belonged down there, part of the ocean itself.

My goal was to capture that feeling: the balance between power and peace that freediving seems to hold. It was a reminder of how beautiful it can be when someone is completely in their element.

I used the drone to capture shots from above her as well as following her under the water - although I couldn't quite hold my breath as long as her!
